Back on Track: Emil Frey Racing ready for DTM Round 5 at the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben

After a difficult weekend at the Norisring, Emil Frey Racing is setting its sights firmly forward. With Thierry Vermeulen, who scored points consistently in both Norisring races, and a highly motivated Matteo Cairoli determined to recover ground in the Drivers' Championship following his undeserved retirement, the Swiss team heads to the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben for the fifth round of the 2026 DTM season. In the Teams' Championship, Emil Frey Racing continues to hold second place – the fight at the top goes into its next chapter.

From 24th to 26th July 2026, the DTM visits the Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, and Emil Frey Racing will be on the grid with both Ferrari 296 GT3 Evos – the #14 in the distinctive BWT colours and the #69 in the iconic Red Bull livery. Germany's northernmost circuit, set in the heart of the Magdeburger Börde, provides the next opportunity for the team from Safenwil to write another strong chapter in what has been an intense season so far.
The Norisring brought Emil Frey Racing many great moments, but also bitter setbacks. Thierry Vermeulen delivered a consistent performance across the entire weekend, securing valuable points with fifth and sixth place finishes. Matteo Cairoli, however, was forced to retire early on Sunday following an undeserved accident and dropped to fourth in the Drivers' Championship. With 83 points, the Italian currently sits 34 points behind the championship leader – but the season is far from over, and Oschersleben offers the next opportunity to fight back. In the Teams' Championship, Emil Frey Racing remains in second place with 141 points, 21 points behind the leading team, Winward Racing.
The Motorsport Arena Oschersleben offers a unique racing atmosphere with its distinctive arena character: the spectator areas sit six to eight metres above the track, bringing the crowd right into the heart of the action. The 3.696-kilometre circuit with 14 corners and a long main straight demands strong braking performance, precise set-up and good traction – all strengths that Emil Frey Racing has demonstrated on multiple occasions this season. There is every reason to believe that both Ferrari 296 GT3 Evos will once again be found at the sharp end of the field in Oschersleben.
