Emil Frey Racing chases the perfect finale at GTWC season closer in Barcelona

Fast Facts – The Press Bulletin
Emil Frey Racing travels to the GT World Challenge Sprint Cup season finale in Barcelona on a wave of momentum. At the penultimate round in Zandvoort, the team delivered a weekend to remember: victory for the #69 Ferrari of Thierry Vermeulen and Ben Green, plus two further podium finishes, demonstrated emphatically what Emil Frey Racing is capable of. In the Teams' Championship, Emil Frey Racing sits fifth with 54 points, just 4.5 points behind third-placed AF Corse. At the season finale on the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, a Top-3 finish in the Teams' Championship is still within reach.

Press Release
The GT World Challenge Sprint Cup 2026 season finale heads to the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and Emil Frey Racing arrives in the Catalan capital full of confidence. Buoyed by the results from Zandvoort, where the team claimed a victory and two podium finishes, the task now is to confirm that form and bring the season to a close with another strong result.

The Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya is one of the most renowned and demanding racing circuits in Europe. The 4.675-kilometre layout with its 16 corners places particular demands on car setup and driver skill. The circuit's characteristically low grip level makes finding an optimal setup a decisive factor for a successful weekend. At the same time, the track's long main straight and tight first corner offer good overtaking opportunities that Emil Frey Racing knows how to exploit.

In the Teams' Championship, Emil Frey Racing currently holds fifth place with 54 points, just 4.5 points behind third-placed AF Corse. Another strong weekend in Barcelona could still lift the team into the top three of the Teams' Championship.

TEAM QUOTES – Emil Frey Racing

Lorenz Frey-Hilti,
Team Principal
"Zandvoort showed what this team is capable of when everything comes together. We are taking that momentum with us to Barcelona, where we want to close the season finale with a convincing performance. A Top-3 finish in the Teams' Championship is still within reach and that is our clear goal. The strong results from Zandvoort give us added confidence heading into the final weekend."

Jürg Flach, Technical Director
"After the podium finishes in Zandvoort, we have made a significant step forward in the championship standings. A similarly strong weekend in Barcelona could move us into the top three position. The circuit's characteristically low grip level has its challenges, however, and finding an optimal setup during preparation will be the decisive factor."

DRIVER QUOTES – Emil Frey Racing

Matteo Cairoli
(Italy)
"We need to finish the season as strongly as possible, because it has been a genuinely difficult season and we faced many tough moments along the way. On Sunday in Zandvoort we finally took our first podium, and that was absolutely important for everyone in the team. I see Barcelona as another opportunity to step onto the podium."

Konsta Lappalainen (Finland)
"I think we pick up right where we left off in Zandvoort. We are hoping to carry the momentum with us to Barcelona and help the team secure a Top-3 finish. We will give everything we have and hopefully find ourselves on the podium again."

Thierry Vermeulen (Netherlands)
"Even if the final race in Zandvoort went very well for all of us, it has been a difficult season overall. Barcelona is a circuit I enjoy a lot and where the Ferrari is competitive. We really need to be at our best and get the maximum out of it. It will not be as straightforward as Zandvoort, but we are all looking forward to the finale and will give one hundred per cent."

Ben Green (Great Britain)
"After our victory in Zandvoort, the mood in the team is naturally fantastic, but our full focus is now on the season finale in Barcelona. Zandvoort is a circuit where the team has celebrated many successes, but Barcelona is a track where we as a team have less experience with the Ferrari. I am nevertheless convinced that we can carry the momentum from our strong Zandvoort weekend into Spain and be competitive and ready to fight for the win."
