Emil Frey Racing looks optimistically ahead to next DTM round at Lausitzring
Fast Facts – The Press Bulletin
Following Matteo Cairoli's first DTM victory and a double podium finish in Zandvoort, Emil Frey Racing heads to the DEKRA Lausitzring for the third round of the season, sitting third in the team standings with 77 points. The goal: to score points in both races. The team was already able to gather valuable data during the official DTM test in early June. Nonetheless, the technically demanding circuit, with its low grip levels and well-known susceptibility to changeable weather, will continue to require precise set-up work right through to the start of the race.
Press Release
Following a successful weekend in Zandvoort, Emil Frey Racing heads to the DEKRA Lausitzring for the third round of the DTM season. In the Netherlands, the team delivered a solid overall performance: Matteo Cairoli claimed his first DTM victory from pole position, while Thierry Vermeulen secured a further podium for the Swiss outfit with third place. Emil Frey Racing currently sits third in the team standings with 77 points.
The DEKRA Lausitzring presents different challenges to the coastal dune circuit at Zandvoort. The 4.6-kilometre track in Brandenburg combines tight, technically demanding sections with a fast final sector. Bumpy surfaces and low grip levels call for precise set-up work – factors the team was already able to examine closely during the official DTM test in early June. The weather adds a further variable: heavy rain showers at the Lausitzring have repeatedly produced surprises in the past, forcing strategists into short-notice decisions.
At the Lausitzring, Emil Frey Racing's aim is to build on the insights gained in Zandvoort and score points once again consistently. The race at the Lausitzring also marks the season's first appearance in Germany – a weekend that traditionally draws large crowds and brings particular attention to motorsport in the region.
Weekend-Highlights:

TEAM QUOTES - Emil Frey Racing
Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal
"We took a clear step forward in Zandvoort and the results confirmed that. Now the focus is on holding on to third place in the team’s standings and, where possible, working our way further up. We've achieved good results at the Lausitzring in the past, but the weather there always remains a major unknown – especially when it comes to strategy."
Jürg Flach, Technical Director
"We have mixed emotions about the Lausitzring, but last year we managed to win a race there with Jack Aitken. At the beginning of June, like all the other DTM teams, we tested at the Lausitzring. We worked out a good setup with the Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo, which gives the drivers the confidence they need in the car."
DRIVER QUOTES - Emil Frey Racing
Matteo Cairoli (Italy)
"The Lausitzring is a track where, fortunately, I have good memories – even though the last time I raced there was in 2018. We should be competitive, and I'll give everything to bring home good results and points across the whole weekend."
Thierry Vermeulen (Netherlands)
"At the Lausitzring, the cars are always very close together in qualifying – that makes the starting grid an exciting affair every time. At the same time, the track offers good overtaking opportunities, which makes the races interesting. What gives me personal confidence is that, during the test, we were able to confirm the progress we made in Zandvoort. The car feels good, and we're heading into the weekend well prepared."
