Emil Frey Racing ready for next Showdown at DTM in Zandvoort
📌 Fast Facts 📌
Emil Frey Racing is on its way to Zandvoort for the third round of the DTM season. The iconic circuit nestled in the Dutch dunes is known for its technical demands and requires absolute precision from drivers. The team returns with fond memories, including last year’s victory by Jack Aitken and a strong home race performance from Thierry Vermeulen. DTM newcomer Ben Green continues to impress with a steep learning curve, injecting fresh energy into the team. With the new two-pitstop-regulation, strategy and teamwork will play a decisive role. Jack Aitken sits fifth in the drivers’ standings currently, while Emil Frey Racing holds fourth place in the team rankings.
After an intense start to the season, Emil Frey Racing is gearing-up for the third round of the DTM championship this coming weekend - this time on the demanding circuit of Zandvoort in the Netherlands. The Swiss team is entering the coastal race with three Ferrari 296 GT3s, aiming to score more valuable points in the fight for the championship.
The Dutch dune circuit brings back positive memories for Emil Frey Racing. In 2024, Jack Aitken secured Pole Position and clinched victory in the Saturday race, while local hero Thierry Vermeulen impressed on Sunday with third in qualifying and a strong fourth-place finish on home turf.
DTM rookie Ben Green has also shown plenty of promise in his debut season. Although the learning curve is steep, the British driver is making steady progress and adding fresh momentum to the team.
Zandvoort is considered as one of the most technically demanding tracks in the calendar and also one of the most popular among drivers. Tight corners, banked turns, rapid direction changes and minimal run-off areas demand maximum precision. With the introduction of the new two-pitstop rule, strategy and teamwork will be more crucial than ever. This is where Emil Frey Racing plans to play out its strengths and continues collecting valuable championship points. Currently, Jack Aitken sits fifth in the drivers’ standings, while the team holds fourth in the team championship.
The third DTM race weekend takes place at Zandvoort (Netherlands) next weekend. As usual, the races will be broadcast live: Saturday at 13:30 and, exceptionally, Sunday at 16:30 due to a scheduling conflict with the official 24 Hours of Le Mans test day, on ProSieben. DRIVER QUOTES - Emil Frey Racing
Jack Aitken (Great Britain)
“My best memory is definitely the win with the team in the GT Masters back in 2022. We’ve always had a great time at this track, so I’m hoping for strong results again this year. It’s hard to predict how the performance will be, but I always enjoy racing here – so let’s see what happens!”
Thierry Vermeulen (The Netherlands)
“Zandvoort is a great track anyway - and obviously something very special for me personally. Driving here in the DTM always has a special appeal. After our outing in the GT World Challenge, we analysed the data in detail and I hope that we can perform as strongly as last year. I'm really looking forward to seeing the fans here and hope that many will find their way to the pits.”
Ben Green (Great Britain)
“As so often this season, the biggest challenge is dealing with cold tyres and how to get them up to temperature. Fortunately, we have already raced in Zandvoort and were able to gain experience there - now we just have to get everything together to achieve a good result. Turn 3 is my favorite! I love the banking.”
