Emil Frey Racing ready for Sprint-Cup-Showdown in Barcelona
Safenwil – October 8th, 2024
Emil Frey Racing is eagerly awaiting the season finale of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Powered by AWS Sprint Cup, which takes place in Barcelona next weekend. After a strong season in which the Swiss team took two Pole Positions, two second and third places and a race win in Hockenheim, they will now do everything in their power to finish the Sprint Cup season with a good result.
After Brands Hatch, Misano, Hockenheim and Magny-Cours, the two 60-minute races on the 4.657-kilometre-long Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya will bring an exciting season to a close. Even though Emil Frey Racing drivers Ben Green and Konsta Lappalainen are no longer contenders for the drivers' title after a turbulent weekend in Magny-Cours, their chances of winning the team championship are still mathematically open.
The season finale of the Fanatec GT World Challenge Europe Sprint Cup Powered by AWS will take place in Barcelona (Spain) from 11th to 13th October 2024. All sessions and races will be streamed live on the YouTube channel @gtworld.
Team Quotes Emil Frey Racing
Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal
“Everyone is already looking forward to the Sprint Cup season finale. The track in Barcelona suits our Ferrari 296 GT3 and with a 26-point gap to the title in the team standings, everything is still open. We will give it our best shot.“
Jürg Flach, Technical Director
“We go into the final round of the Sprint Cup in third place in the team and driver championships and are in a good position to score more points. It has been a season with many highs, but also a few weak points. At the last race weekend, we will give it our all again and must not allow ourselves to make any mistakes.”
Driver Quotes - #69
Thierry Vermeulen (The Netherlands)
“I'm really looking forward to Barcelona. The season was good for us, but we didn't realise our full potential. I would like to see all the hard work of the year pay off.”
Giacomo Altoè (Italy)
“Barcelona is coming up and it will be a ‘short weekend’ without the test day, so it's all about being competitive from the start. It's a track where I've always been quite fast and I really like it, so I can't wait to get the weekend started!”
Driver Quotes - #14
Konsta Lappalainen (Finland)
“Our expectations for Barcelona are high and we would like to finish the season with another podium or even a win. Our absolute priority is to win the team title and work our way up to second place as drivers.”
Ben Green (Great Britain)
“I'm really looking forward to the season finale in Barcelona. Driving the track with the Ferrari will certainly be a lot of fun and although we only have limited testing time, I think we should be fighting at the front.”
