Race 1 – Saturday, 05th July 2025
The starting signal for the first of two races at the tradition-steeped Norisring was given on Saturday afternoon in sweltering summer temperatures. In the morning qualifying session, Thierry Vermeulen in the #69 Ferrari 296 GT3 secured the third-fastest time. Immediately after the start, the Dutchman catapulted himself into second place, while Jack Aitken in the #14 sister car moved up from eighth on the grid to fifth.
Ben Green had less luck: His #10 Ferrari was unfortunately touched at the start, resulting in a puncture. A necessary pitstop after the first lap put him at the back of the field, and the team ultimately decided to end the race early on.
At the front, Thierry Vermeulen confidently maintained second place and controlled the action with a constant gap to the third placed car, Thomas Preining in the #91 Porsche. As the pitstop window approached, the two Emil Frey Racing drivers were among the last three who had not yet made a stop. Jack Aitken stopped on lap 40, followed by his team-mate just two laps later. Despite a quick pitstop, the number 69 Ferrari of Verstappen.comRacing lost two positions.
A thrilling battle for the podium broke out again in the final laps. In the end, however, Thierry Vermeulen had to settle for fourth place. Jack Aitken crossed the finishing line directly behind him in fifth place and also set the fastest race lap.
Race 2 – Sunday, 06th July 2025
Jack Aitken already set an exclamation mark on Saturday with the fastest race lap and the Ferrari 296 GT3s from Emil Frey Racing also confirmed its strong form in qualifying on Sunday: Thierry Vermeulen confidently secured his second DTM Pole Position, closely followed by Jack Aitken, who gave the team a complete front row on the grid. Ben Green also built on his strong performance and put his car in fourth place.
The race got off to a turbulent start: a collision involving several cars at the back of the field led to a red flag interruption. After the restart, Thierry Vermeulen in the #69 race car maintained the lead until the first pitstop, after which Jack Aitken took the lead. Thierry Vermeulen had to concede defeat to the oncoming Thomas Preining in the #91 Porsche, whereupon a thrilling duel for the lead broke out.At the second pitstop, the Porsche driver reacted first, and a little later Jack Aitken headed for the pits with just a little time to spare before the pitlane closed. Although the Brit was the first to return to the track, Thomas Preining used his advantage of already warmed tyres to take the lead. Jack Aitken in the #14 Ferrari did not let up and fought for every metre.
In the end, Emil Frey Racing achieved a strong team result: Jack Aitken and Thierry Vermeulen took second and third place on the podium, while Ben Green celebrated his best DTM result to date with an outstanding sixth place. Jack Aitken is now just eight points behind in fourth place in the championship standings

TEAM QUOTES - Emil Frey Racing
Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal
"Thierry Vermeulen did a great job with his Pole Position, but of course you also want to win the race when you start the race with three cars from the first four positions. Unfortunately, the team around Thomas Preining was simply stronger today. Nevertheless, it was generally a good team result with important points for the championship."
Jürg Flach, Technical Director
"It's always bitter when you start from the front row and it's not enough to win. However, the double podium today is a great success. We were strong all weekend and scored a lot of valuable points for the team and driver championship. We are working hard to eliminate our weaknesses and continue to improve. Many thanks to the whole team!"
