Fast Facts – The Press Bulletin
Emil Frey Racing is looking ahead to a special race weekend: Circuit Zandvoort will serve as the stage for the second round of the DTM season from 22nd to 24th May 2026. The spectacular track nestled in the Dutch dunes ranks among the absolute highlights of the calendar – and also serves as the home race for Thierry Vermeulen.

Press Release
Four weeks after the season opener at the Red Bull Ring, Emil Frey Racing faces its next highlight: this coming weekend, the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters visits the Circuit Zandvoort. The Swiss team from Safenwil heads to the Dutch North Sea coast – to a track regarded as one of the most exciting for drivers and fans alike.

The 4.259-kilometre circuit, with its rapid corners and distinctive bumps, is considered one of the most demanding and characterful tracks on the racing calendar. For Emil Frey Racing, the race meeting in the dunes carries an especially personal significance: it is the home race of Thierry Vermeulen. The Dutchman, supported by Verstappen.comRacing and Red Bull, takes to the wheel of the #69 Ferrari in front of his fellow countrymen.

The team's strongest showing at Zandvoort to date came with Jack Aitken's race victory in 2024 – yet a podium for Thierry Vermeulen has continued to escape him on home soil. Teammate Matteo Cairoli lines up in the #14 Ferrari in BWT livery for his second DTM outing. The Italian gathered his first valuable DTM experience at the season opener and is ready to take the next step in Zandvoort.

The race weekend at the Red Bull Ring was a challenging but instructive start to the season. The team demonstrated its strength with the fastest pitstops of the entire field, and both drivers secured championship points. In Zandvoort, the goal is to build on that and push further forward.

Emil Frey Racing #14

TEAM QUOTES – Emil Frey Racing

Lorenz Frey-Hilti,
Team Principal
"Zandvoort is always something very special for our team – and of course particularly so for Thierry, who races here in front of his home crowd. We have worked intensively since the first weekend and are confident that we will be more competitive in the dunes."

Jürg Flach, Technical Director
"Assuming that certain tracks suit certain manufacturers, it is fair to say that the characteristics of Zandvoort are tailored to the Ferrari – provided the performance parameters are within the right window. We also tested with the Evo package in March during our preparations to refine the setup accordingly. We therefore travel to Zandvoort with confidence and are aiming to fight at the front."

DRIVER QUOTES – Emil Frey Racing

Matteo Cairoli (Italy)
"Zandvoort is a fantastic track that I really enjoy, and I'm very much looking forward to the two races. Since the opener, we have learned a great deal about the new Evo, and I believe we can now fight further up the field in Zandvoort compared to the first rounds."

Thierry Vermeulen (Netherlands)
"For me, racing in Zandvoort is always something special. I'm really looking forward to my home race – it's always one of the best weekends of the year for me. Unfortunately, I've never managed a podium here in the DTM. I'm really excited about all the fans and hope we can put on a great show for them."
