Press Release
The Norisring calls: on the first weekend of July, the DTM visits the historic street circuit in Nuremberg – one of the most demanding venues on the German motorsport calendar. For Emil Frey Racing, the fourth DTM weekend arrives at the best possible time.
With Matteo Cairoli leading the Drivers’ Championship after his second victory of the DTM season, Emil Frey Racing travels to the Norisring in high spirits. The team also carries fond memories of the iconic circuit: last year, they secured two podium finishes there, adding further anticipation to the weekend ahead. The tight street course with its characteristic concrete walls, the narrow Grundig hairpin, and a very short lap, places exceptional demands on both driver and machinery. Strong braking performance, good rotation, and sharp acceleration are the keys to success, alongside a precise qualifying lap: given the short circuit length, gaps are traditionally razor-thin, making a strong grid position particularly valuable.
In the Teams' Championship, Emil Frey Racing sits second, just four points behind the front-runner Schubert Motorsport. The fight at the top is therefore not just a matter for the Drivers' Championship — the battle in the teams' standings is equally compelling. Thierry Vermeulen, eager to bounce back after a difficult Lausitzring weekend, is all the more motivated to demonstrate what the #69 Ferrari 296 GT3 Evo is truly capable of at the Norisring. Emil Frey Racing looks forward to the Norisring, its passionate crowds, and another step towards the championship.

TEAM QUOTES – Emil Frey Racing
Lorenz Frey-Hilti, Team Principal
"The Norisring is a circuit that should suit us, we proved that last year. We head to Nuremberg in positive spirits and will do everything we can to continue our upward trend."
Jürg Flach, Technical Director
"We have very good memories of the Norisring as last year we took two podium finishes there, which gives us additional confidence. Given the short lap length, gaps in qualifying are traditionally extremely tight, which makes a strong starting position crucial. The Norisring is a unique race with an always fantastic atmosphere, and we are very much looking forward to it!"
DRIVER QUOTES – Emil Frey Racing
Matteo Cairoli (Italy)
"We're taking the momentum of the past races with us to the Norisring. As a team, we're growing together more and more, and we can keep getting more competitive. Our goal is to extract the maximum. The Norisring will be a massive challenge, not just because of the potentially high temperatures, but above all because of the strong competition. We need to put everything together. Even if the success ballast will hold me back a little in the first race, we won't give up. I have full trust in the team and not least thanks to the strong strategy and the perfect pit stop execution."
Thierry Vermeulen (Netherlands)
"The Norisring is a very special circuit, and we only come here with the DTM, which makes the weekend even more unique. Qualifying is incredibly tight: just a few corners, barely any margin for error. But I'm looking forward to it. After a tough weekend at the Lausitzring, I'm hungry for points and want to show what we're really made of."
