Opening

Extension

In 1971, the circuit was extended for the first time to 3.848 kilometres. The last rebuild in 2003 saw the Estoril Curve, the longest straight on the circuit at just under 900 metres (now called the Golf), extended to include the Adelaide Curve (which was considerably longer than the later hairpin) and a new back straight to a tight corner, simply called 180 degrees, which leads back to the old track, for a total of 4.411 kilometres.
